Another week, a rainy day, and I'm still figuring out how to "blog." (This statement in itself dates me... and I have no problem with that. A friend of mine chooses not to have a cell phone or internet social contacts... at least, I'm trying to stay current.... but, at times, I envy her in that she doesn't experience the frustrations I have at times with technology.)
Last time, I stated that I would share more on the book, "All the Rivers Run Into the Sea." Although very mid-western in content, you can relate to it if you were born in the 1940s - 50s... a little history, a little romance, much intrigue. It's a different kind of love story. The novel's main character, Karen, has a love of the water. As a child, her family visited Lake Itasca--the very beginning of the Mississippi River. Having a Christian up-bringing, she understood that we all come from God, and we return to God--much like the river and its source. With all its twists and turns, a river is fascinating, yet unpredictable, like life.
FROM THE BOOK: "We all meet someone in life who affects us for the rest of our life whether we want them to or not. For me, it was Bill; then it was Martin; then it was Dan; and then it was ____. You see how it goes. We find ourselves longing for someone or something that is not. Is it because we do not know how to love?"
This novel may cause you to reconsider what love really is.
